  • Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 500 g rigatoni
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 500 g ground beef

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Cook the rigatoni in boiling, salted water until al dente, then reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain.
  2. Step 2: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Step 3: Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Step 5: Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Add the chopped carrot and celery and cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Add the canned tomatoes, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Step 8: Simmer the sauce over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 20-30 minutes, adding some reserved pasta water if the sauce becomes too thick.

  10. Step 10: Serve the rigatoni hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
