Description
A classic sandwich featuring slow-roasted beef, crispy onions, and melted cheddar cheese
Ingredients
- 1 cup caramelized onions
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3 lbs beef prime rib roast
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 tsp thyme
- 2 slices tomato
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C)
- Step 2: Season the beef roast with thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
- Step 3: Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the beef roast until browned on all sides
- Step 4: Transfer the Dutch oven to the preheated oven and roast the beef for 2 1/2 hours, or until medium-rare
- Step 5: While the beef is roasting, caramelize the onions in a saucepan over medium-low heat for 30 minutes
- Step 6: Slice the beef roast into thin strips
- Step 7: Assemble the sandwiches by spreading Dijon mustard on the hoagie rolls, then topping with sliced beef, caramelized onions, shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomato
- Step 8: Place the sandwiches under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly
