Description
Classic American dish of ground beef patties with a rich brown gravy
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 500 g ground beef
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 egg
- 0.5 medium onion
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands until just combined.
- Step 3: Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each into a round patty.
- Step 4: Coat each patty with flour, shaking off excess.
- Step 5: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties for 2-3 minutes per side, then transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Step 6: While the patties are baking, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Step 7: Add the beef broth to the saucepan and bring to a simmer. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Step 8: Serve the Salisbury steaks hot with the brown gravy spooned over the top.
