Description
A classic Japanese rice bowl dish featuring grilled salmon, ikura, and pickled ginger
Ingredients
- 0.25 cup ikura
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 cup Japanese short-grain rice
- 2 cups water
- 0.25 cup pickled ginger
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 2 tbsp sake
- Salt and pepper
- 2 fillets salmon
Instructions
- Step 1: Rinse the rice thoroughly and cook according to the package instructions with 2 cups of water
- Step 2: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper
- Step 3: Grill the salmon for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through
- Step 4: In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sesame oil, and bring to a simmer over medium heat
- Step 5: Reduce the sauce by half and brush over the grilled salmon
- Step 6: Assemble the donburi by placing a scoop of cooked rice in a bowl, topping with a piece of grilled salmon, and spooning ikura and pickled ginger on top
