Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 sticks unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 4 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan with butter and line with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: Melt the butter and sugar in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Step 3: Remove from heat and stir in the cocoa powder until it is well combined.
  4. Step 4: Let cool slightly, then stir in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Step 5: Add the flour and salt to the saucepan and stir until just combined.
  6. Step 6: Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval.
  7. Step 7: Stir the melted chocolate into the saucepan with the other ingredients.
  8. Step 8: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  9. Step 9: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Step 10: While the brownies are baking, make the salted caramel sauce by combining the heavy cream, granulated sugar, and unsalted butter in a small saucepan.

  12. Step 12: Remove the brownies from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
  13. Step 13: Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the top of the brownies and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
