Description
Flaky buttermilk biscuits smothered in a rich sausage gravy
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 0.5 cup butter
- 0.75 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 pound sausage
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 3: Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Step 4: Add buttermilk and stir until dough forms.
- Step 5: Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead 2-3 times.
- Step 6: Roll dough out to 1-inch thickness and use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds.
- Step 7: Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 8: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Step 9: While biscuits are baking, cook sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up with a spoon as it cooks.
