Description
Crispy fried chicken with a spicy kick
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 lbs chicken pieces
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Step 2: Pour the buttermilk into a separate large bowl.
- Step 3: Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk, coating completely, then roll in the flour mixture to coat. Place the coated chicken on a plate or tray.
- Step 4: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Step 5: Carefully place 3-4 pieces of the coated chicken into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the skillet.
- Step 6: Fry the chicken for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Repeat with the remaining chicken pieces.
- Step 7: Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
