Description

Crispy fried chicken with a spicy kick

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 lbs chicken pieces
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Step 2: Pour the buttermilk into a separate large bowl.
  3. Step 3: Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk, coating completely, then roll in the flour mixture to coat. Place the coated chicken on a plate or tray.
  4. Step 4: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  5. Step 5: Carefully place 3-4 pieces of the coated chicken into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the skillet.
  6. Step 6: Fry the chicken for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Repeat with the remaining chicken pieces.
  7. Step 7: Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
