Description
Crispy fried catfish with a spicy kick
Ingredients
- 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 6 oz catfish fillets
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 cup all-purpose cornmeal
- 1 cup flour
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: In a shallow dish, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Step 2: Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish.
- Step 3: Dip each catfish fillet into the buttermilk, then coat in the flour mixture.
- Step 4: Dip the floured catfish into the cornmeal, pressing gently to adhere.
- Step 5: Roll the cornmeal-coated catfish in the panko breadcrumbs to coat.
- Step 6: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Step 7: Fry the catfish fillets for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Step 8: Remove the catfish from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
