Description
Classic Italian dish featuring homemade meatballs and spaghetti in a rich tomato sauce
Ingredients
- 2 cloves garlic
- 0.25 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 0.25 cup parsley
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 cup onion
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 egg
- 1 pound spaghetti
- Parmesan cheese
- 1 pound ground beef
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well with your hands until just combined.
- Step 3: Use your hands to shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) in diameter. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 4: Drizzle the meatballs with olive oil and gently roll them around to coat evenly.
- Step 5: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Step 6: While the meatballs are baking, cook the spaghetti in a large pot of boiling, salted water until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining the spaghetti.
- Step 7: In a large saucepan, combine the crushed tomatoes and reserved pasta water. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
- Step 8: Add the cooked meatballs to the tomato sauce and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Step 9: Add the cooked spaghetti to the saucepan with the meatballs and tomato sauce. Toss everything together, ensuring the spaghetti is well coated with the sauce.
- Step 10: Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
