Description
Crispy fried chicken wings tossed in a sweet and spicy Korean-inspired sauce
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cup gochujang sauce
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 0.25 cup vegetable oil
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C)
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
- Step 3: Pour the buttermilk into a separate large bowl
- Step 4: Dredge the chicken wings in the flour mixture, then dip in the buttermilk, and finally coat in the flour mixture again
- Step 5: Place the coated wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- Step 6: Drizzle the wings with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and toss to coat
- Step 7: Bake the wings for 25-30 minutes, or until crispy
- Step 8: While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce by whisking together the gochujang sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger in a small bowl
- Step 9: After the wings have baked for 25-30 minutes, toss them in the sauce until fully coated
- Step 10: Return the wings to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized
