Description
A classic Chinese-inspired dish with a tangy and sweet sauce, crispy pork, and crunchy vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 lb pork shoulder
- 1 large onion
- 1 cup vinegar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 large bell peppers
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, eggs, and panko breadcrumbs.
- Step 2: Add pork pieces to the bowl and toss to coat.
- Step 3: Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook pork until browned and crispy, about 5-6 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Step 4: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Cook onion and bell peppers until tender, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Step 5: In a small bowl, whisk together sugar, ketchup, vinegar, and cornstarch. Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a boil.
- Step 6: Return pork to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Step 7: Serve hot and enjoy!
