Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 large Onion
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 can Tomatoes
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 0.5 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 medium-hot dried Ancho Chilies
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
  2. Step 2: Once browned, remove the beef from the pot and set it aside.
  3. Step 3: Add the diced onion to the pot and cook until it is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Add the minced garlic to the pot and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  5. Step 5: Add the ancho chilies, cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Step 6: Add the diced tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, and brown sugar to the pot. Stir to combine.
  7. Step 7: Return the browned ground beef to the pot and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  8. Step 8: Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
