Description
Tender and flavorful beef brisket smoked to perfection with a classic Texas-style dry rub
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 0.25 cup kosher salt
- 1 cup wood chips
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 10-12 pound beef brisket
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat smoker to 225-250°F (110-120°C)
- Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together dry rub ingredients
- Step 3: Apply dry rub evenly to both sides of the brisket, making sure to coat all surfaces
- Step 4: Place brisket in the smoker, fat side up
- Step 5: Smoke for 4-5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C)
- Step 6: After 4 hours, begin spritzing the brisket with beef broth every 30 minutes to keep it moist
- Step 7: Once the brisket reaches 160°F (71°C), wrap it in foil and continue to smoke for another 2-3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 180-190°F (82-88°C)
- Step 8: Remove the brisket from the heat and let it rest for 30 minutes before slicing and serving
