Description
Classic roasted turkey with savory stuffing and delicious gravy
Ingredients
- 2 stalks celery
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups bread
- 1 medium onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 whole turkey
- 0.25 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sage
- 2 cups turkey gravy
- 1 teaspoon thyme
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Step 2: Rinse the turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
- Step 3: In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion, garlic, and celery in butter until tender.
- Step 4: In a large bowl, combine the bread, sautéed vegetables, herbs, spices, salt, and pepper.
- Step 5: Stuff the turkey loosely with the bread mixture.
- Step 6: Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour in the chicken broth.
- Step 7: Roast the turkey for about 4-4 1/2 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Step 8: Baste the turkey with melted butter every 30 minutes.
- Step 9: Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
- Step 10: Serve with turkey gravy.
