Description
A classic Tex-Mex dish with crispy tortilla chips smothered in melted cheese, jalapenos, and savory ground beef.
Ingredients
- 0.25 cup sour cream
- 1 jalapeno pepper
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic
- 0.25 cup cilantro
- 0.5 cup Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag tortilla chips
- 1 large onion
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 can diced tomatoes
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Step 2: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Step 3: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
- Step 4: Add the taco seasoning to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Step 5: Stir in the diced tomatoes with green chilies and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let cook while you prepare the cheese sauce.
- Step 6: In a separate saucepan, melt the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over low heat, stirring constantly.
- Step 7: Arrange the tortilla chips in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Spoon the beef and cheese sauce over the top of the tortilla chips.
- Step 8: Sprinkle the diced jalapeno and chopped cilantro over the top of the nachos.
- Step 9: Bake the nachos in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 10: Remove the nachos from the oven and top with a dollop of sour cream. Serve immediately.
