Description
A creamy and dreamy dessert that combines the classic flavors of root beer and vanilla bean
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 0.5 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup root beer
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 0.5 vanilla bean vanilla
- 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
- Whipped cream
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Step 2: Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and add them to the mixture. Let steep for 10-15 minutes.
- Step 3: Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean container. Let cool to room temperature.
- Step 4: Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Step 5: To assemble the floats, place a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of a tall glass. Pour the chilled cream mixture over the ice cream, followed by a pour of root beer.
- Step 6: Top with whipped cream and serve immediately.
